Felicia's Notebook, Taking Back Friday

SweetGeorgia’s Mystery Knit-Along + Episode 200!

Felicia Lo Wong on Taking Back Friday vlog episode 200

As you may have seen, we just announced our 6th annual SweetGeorgia Mystery Knit-Along (MKAL) this week! And at today’s Taking Back Friday vlog, I want to talk about this MKAL, why we do this each year, and why you should join!

It’s been a while since I’ve had a minute to sit down and make a proper video… but HERE IT IS… episode 200 of Taking Back Friday!

If you’re new here, I’m Felicia Lo Wong and I’m a knitter whose life changed when I learned how to spin, dye, and weave. I’m in love with the delicate but complex nature of hand-dyed colour and I believe that colour changes everything. My whole mission here at SweetGeorgia (for the past 18 years!) is to bring your life more joy through colour and craft… so let me know if it’s working.

In Episode 200, I’m talking about the SweetGeorgia Mystery Knit-Along and answering the big questions like “why would I want to make something if I don’t know what it’s going to look like?!?” Crazy talk, right? Well, the short answer is, when I join an MKAL, I focus on practicing letting go of expectations and relaxing into the idea of just enjoying being in the moment with your knitting and your knitting friends. And if you’re already signed up for the MKAL, welcome!!

Thanks, as always, for watching these Friday videos. Making them is a joy and I absolutely love reading all your comments.

IN THIS EPISODE

  • what I’m wearing in today’s video: I’m wearing the Navelli design by Caitlin Hunter, which I co-knit with Greta (see more here). It was knit in using our new colourways Tough Love Sock Black Raspberry and Amber Ale.
  • what I’m talking about in today’s video: I’m talking about our 2023 Mystery Knit-Along, Playin’ My Song, designed by Tabetha Hedrick. We have custom MKAL yarn sets, the MKAL pattern pre-order (which comes free with yarn set purchase), and all of the chat will be taking place at our SweetGeorgia Discord server. For knitting tutorials to help you along the way, visit the School of SweetGeorgia. We hope you’ll join us!
