‘Round the Colour Wheel Make-Along

Wild Autumn Cardigan colourwork knitting design by Abbye Dahl knit in SweetGeorgia Superwash DK yarn

15 days focused on colour. Is there anything better? We’re excited to announce our next make-along: a ‘Round the Colour Wheel Make-Along.

For those of you who might be unfamiliar with the term, a make-along is an opportunity to work on a project with the online community of fellow knitters, crocheters, and weavers. It’s a great way to learn new skills, get inspired by others, and enjoy the social aspect of crafting.

Make-Along Dates

‘Round the Colour Wheel Make-Along will run from May 16-May 31.

What Are We Making?

For this make-along, we’ll be making any small accessory with 2 or more colours. Think stranded, mosaic, intarsia, or any combination thereof to expand your colourwork skills. Choose a technique that you aren’t super familiar with, opt for colours you wouldn’t typically use, blend colours into a new palette you haven’t tried before, or break the mold and use the whole colour wheel in your project.

Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll have some helpful blog posts walking you through the magic of creating new colour palettes, as well as sharing some pattern ideas for your project. But that’s not all! Throughout the month of May, you will find all of our colourwork patterns 25% off (since we love enabling).

Our small accessory is a colourful chance to go BIG.

How to Take Part

We’ll be hosting the make-along on our community forums: the School of SweetGeorgia Forums (for members) and our SweetGeorgia Discord server in the #colour-along channel (free to join and you can learn how to use the Discord server HERE). There, you can share your photos, ask questions, and discover how others play with colour. Of course, if you’re on Instagram, we encourage you to use the hashtags #sweetgeorgiaMAL and #knittingMAL to share your projects with others.

Don’t Forget Prizes

We can’t have a make-along without prizes! Every participant who shares an in-progress photo on the SOS Community Forum or Discord #make-along channel is entered into a drawing for one of two gift card prizes at the end of May (that’s right! TWO winners). If you’re using yarn or a pattern from SweetGeorgia, your photo counts as two entries.

I’ll post some reminders in the coming weeks but start looking for a pattern that’ll push the boundaries of your usual colour experience. We can’t wait to see what you create and share. Mark your calendars for May 16 and get ready to start making!

    Hello,
On Felishaโ€™s Wild Autumn Cardigan, what yarn was used for her pattern. I love her color choices and would love to make one not similar but the same. Does she have a list of what she used and where in the pattern. Not in the show notes really. Mink was mentioned. But love how gorgeous it looked! Can you help me out?
