How to Join New Weft Yarn

Halvdräll Towel weaving project by Felicia Lo Wong on Lo Meets Loom

On today’s Lo Meets Loom vlog episode, I want to show you a quick look at several different ways of joining weft yarn as you weave!

I have the Halvdräll project currently on the loom – they’re dish towels I’ve been weaving for a couple of weeks, and they are almost ready to come off the loom. But I got a question from one of the members of our School of SweetGeorgia, and I thought I would use this opportunity to show you on the loom, what I’m doing when I join in new weft yarns.

I would love to hear about how you join your weft yarns… what’s your favourite technique? Let me know in the comments!

IN THIS EPISODE

  • what I’m wearing in today’s episode: I’m wearing the Kettle Valley shawl, designed by Knox Mountain Knit Co. I knit mine in SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock in Chili Chocolate, Fawn and Cayenne.
  • what I’m currently weaving: I’m making the Halvdräll Towels design by Arianna Funk, and I’m using the Venne 8/2 Organic Cotton as warp, and Gist Duet Cotton Linen as weft.
