FIBRE ARTS STUDIO, SCHOOL, AND SHOP IN VANCOUVER, CANADA
Making hand-dyed colour come alive. Passionate. Relentless. Unapologetic Colour. There is something impossibly alluring about hand-dyed yarns. Everything from the vibrance to the subtle nuances in shade and hue capture the heart as well as the imagination. Hand-dyed yarn has the feeling of being alive.
Founded in 2005 by Felicia Lo, SweetGeorgia Yarns is an artisan yarn company that is passionate about bringing you stunningly saturated colours, luxurious natural fibres and yarns of the highest quality.
Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, we design and distribute an exclusive collection of hand-dyed knitting yarns and weaving yarns of fine merino wool, silk, mohair, and cashmere in every weight from lace and sock to sweater and chunky yarns. We offer our line of yarns and spinning fibres on our online shop and through our fine retailers worldwide.
Nearly 18 years have passed since I dyed my first skein of yarn at my dining room table. Today, our knitting yarns and spinning fibres are hand-dyed at our studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada by an incredible team of passionate and skilled artisans.
Over the years, the things we collectively believe, practice, and value have converged and interwoven to become the fabric of โSweetGeorgia.โ For many, SweetGeorgia has become synonymous with vibrant colour and luxury yarn. But for us, itโs about more than yarn.ย Our mission is to create light and joy through colour and craft.

our core values
Over the years, the things we collectively believe, practice, and value have revealed themselves, and we find that our work is about more than simply making pretty colours.
Colour has the power to comfort and heal. Colour has the power to soothe or startle. Colour has the power to bring light and joy to life. Our goal is to inspire people to express themselves authentically and confidently through colour and craft.
Stitch by stitch, inch by inch, making anything with yarn is labour of love. The fibre arts takes a great dedication of time and energy, and you might spend a hundred hours with yarn flowing through your fingers before you finish your project. Thatโs why it is essential to us to source and make beautiful and exquisite yarns and products that last.
Whether it is creating dyeing workflows and processes that live up to our exacting standards, designing knitwear patterns, or answering the phone, we seek excellence in everything we do.
SweetGeorgia exists only because of the people it serves and the people that work in it. It is our aim to be a blessing to everyone we come in contact with, including customers, vendors, colleagues, and each other.
We are always growing, always striving, and always in a process of continual learning. Mastery of our crafts and knowledge requires us to constantly be developing our skills and abilities. This underlines a fundamental belief in a growth mindset and that each one of us is capable of learning and improvement.
how we live our values
Our work is a labour of love that requires dedication and persistence to achieve. We live by these principles which guide our behaviour and how we do our daily work.
We love what we do and lean in, even when the work is challenging or unglamorous. We approach every task and opportunity with optimism and enthusiasm.
We serve our customers, our community, and each other with patience, grace, and respect. In our interactions, we first listen with an open heart before offering a compassionate response. We are always seeking to be generous and kind to our community.
Through our actions and interactions, we create a vibrant, warm, and inclusive place to work where people can thrive and express their creative passions, regardless of age, colour, nationality, physical or mental disability, race, religion, creed, gender, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
We design and create products and services that inspire action โ whether that is yarn or knitwear patterns or video tutorials. We must always be aiming for a higher standard of quality in everything we do and make. The question weโre always asking ourselves is โhow could we do this better?โ
We cultivate a flexible and agile mindset towards our work, never settling with โhow itโs always been doneโ, so that we might shift or change as needed to thrive in this rapidly changing economy.
We recognize that good stewardship of our resources is essential to our future success and ability to exist. We are intentional, responsible, and thoughtful about the management of our financial, human, and environmental resources.

why sweetgeorgia?
We often get asked where the name "sweetgeorgia" comes from...
Our studio is located in the Pacific Northwest, surrounded by mountains, ocean, and sky. We are enveloped by the Georgia Strait, a body of water extending from the Salish Sea between Vancouver Island and the coast of the Vancouver Lower Mainland. Georgia Street in Downtown Vancouver is the path that connects the city to the North Shore and Whistler mountain communities. From ocean to city to mountain, sweetgeorgia is named for where we are.
In 2005, when Felicia started the blog, she named it “sweetgeorgia” in anticipation of writing about her passion for baking bread and a dream of opening a bakery on Georgia Street in Vancouver.
The blog became a space to write about all sorts of interests (in addition to bread), including knitting, dyeing, and spinning and “sweetgeorgia” evolved into a dream about sharing the comfort that comes with craft.
